Cary Town Council Approves Extra $15 Million for Downtown Park

Cary, NC — The Cary Town Council made two actions of approval in last night’s meeting, one to appropriate an additional $15 million in funding to complete the Downtown Park and the other to “allocate” a police canine named Brackeen to Holly Springs as his handler in Cary is retiring.

What ended up taking up the most discussion time was a contentious rezoning amendment request in the Wellington Park area that has spurred over 300 signatures in a petition against it.

7 Cary Students Named National Cyber Scholars

Cary, NC — In a nationwide cybersecurity competition, 18 out of 1,165 North Carolina students were named winners, each receiving a $2,500 college scholarship. Of those 18 winners, 7 of them are from Cary with an additional 5 representing Durham or Raleigh.

The Cary winners included students of Cary High School, Green Hope High School and Panther Creek High School.

Public Input Wanted on Chapel Hill Road this Wednesday

Cary, NC — This Wednesday from 5:30-7 PM, all citizens have the opportunity to hear about the Chapel Hill Road Study and upcoming changes to the street width in the Downtown Corridor.
